Happy Industrial Corporation is headquartered in Yamagata, Japan with additional factories in Taiwan. Products such as industrial and home use sewing machines, over-lock sewing machines, computer controlled multi-head embroidery sewing machines, coin sorting equipment, food processors, automobile parts, and factory line automation systems are produced at these facilities.
Tohoku Seiki Industries, Ltd. is one of the leading manufacturers of shuttle races and hooks, considered the heart of a sewing machine. They manufacture automobile parts and consumer items such as coffee makers etc. as well as design and develop speciality machines such as custom-built industrial robots.

| 1923 | Taking advantage of the local climate and resources, Happy started off in the foundry industry. Corporate Headquarters presently occupies site of original foundry. |
| 1947 | Opening of the Tokyo office. |
| 1948 | Opening of the Osaka office. Start exporting sewing machines. |
| 1953 | Change company name to Happy Sewing Machine Mfg. Co., LTD |
| 1955 | Start of direct business with Montgomery Ward. |
| 1965 | Company expands and diversifies. Company divided into sewing machine division and machinery division. |
| 1978 | Establishment of Taiwan Happy Sewing Machine Mgr. Co., Ltd. |
| 1980 | Opening of liaison office in Dusseldorf, Germany. During this period many electronic makers establish plants in Yamagata. Happy concentrates on development and manufacturing of computerised sewing machines. |
| 1984 | Company is restructured again, this time into Sewing Machine Div., Mechatronic Div., and Machinery Div. Taking in the electronic technique, Happy introduces their computer controlled multi-head sewing machines. |
